Ethanol is the most promising answer, look at what it has done for Brazil. Although ethanol from corn, & sugarcane is problematic in that it jacks up food prices due to the shortage of produce dedicated farmland. We should look to ethanol from switch grass' such as miscanthus. A process called cellulosic ethanol. Burning ethanol could reduce carbon emissions by 80% and do away with the release of acid-rain causing sulfur dioxide.

Shit Henry Ford's Model-T ran on this shit!

Forget looking at hydrogen fuel cells for cars, the conversion to such a system would cost the auto industry $illions. New production and distribution systems would need to be put in place, there would be a long and costly switch over period that wouldn't benefit either the consumer or the manufacturer.

In Canada we could look to the prairies with fields of non-produce dedicated fields and nothing but grassland. Stewardships could be formed to protect natural habits such as they are, lets face it our hunger for petroleum has polluted every corner of the globe with plastics nothing is natural anymore. Fucking birds on the Galapagos Islands are sporting plastic necklaces and lining their nests with spent condoms. Natural habitats won't mean shit from shinnola if something isn't done to stop climate change.

On an interesting note, A Chesapeake Bay marsh grass bacterium, S. degradans has an enzyme that can quickly break down plant materials like old newspaper, into sugar, which can then be converted to biofuel. Ah dead wood into fuel, sweet!

Comment on This White Christmas Could Be Greener … or Perhaps Abandoned in Favour of Kwanzaa by Pero

I've done my best to incorporate my own personal values into this year's holiday season myself: I avoided stringing up Christmas lights, I completely managed to steer clear of any mall/corporate stores in favour of small, locally owned and operated businesses, and so I bought all my gifts downtown, the gifts were all wrapped in grocery store flyers from my mailbox (they looked awesome!) and as a family we participated in a smaller, stripped down Christmas, with a limit on gifts per person and a spending cap. I am always aware of the wasteful elements of the holiday season, and so as I implemented these changes this year, I found myself with more time to spend with friends and family. That to me is what Christmas means to me. I'm very pleased with the results this year, but I can alwasy strive for better. The tenets of Kwanzaa are very appealing and do serve to provide a reflection on one's comportation and values throughout the year, and should be observed every day. "Keep Kwanzaa with you, all through the year..." I can hear the revised version now. sing it Bing...

I'd also like to add that Boxing Day is, in fact, the evilest day of the year, in which vile, greedy robots are driven to consume more and more, despite it being the day after receiving more stuff than they'll ever get any other time of year. All in the name of what, "saving"? Maybe I don't want to save, maybe I don't always want the lowest price. You pay for what you get, and I hope all the people that served themselves IMMEDIATELY after being served by others are burned by the evil imps of cheap labour, low quality components and poor handling by stressed out underpaid employees. Bah Humbug to all of them.

AND THE TRUTH IS ...

"On September 13th at around 4:00 pm. witnesses saw non-native men running out, picking up weapons and going back into the unfinished house. Inside they had ambushed two Indigenous youth. The kids' backs were against the wall. They have a right to self-defense. The two youth had gone into the house. One went one way and the other went in another direction. That's when the older Indigenous boy caught the non-native man beating his younger brother."

Some people have chosen to believe the government propaganda. They will look stupid when it becomes apparent that our government lies, cheats and steals to appease the corporate bosses who want the unimpeded right to rape and pillage the land for its resources.

Those people will also look pretty stupid when the government totally abandons us to the polluted, desecrated toxic environment that is a result of their corporate greed.

The government does not represent the people. They represent and defend and aid and abet corporate greed. Our so called 'democracy' is just a sop to the people to keep them docile while the corporations work us to death and exploit our environment.

The naive ones wre those who choose to follow the government line. It leads only to our death and desecration of the land.
